A lack of support can have disastrous consequences if not addressed properly and sometimes, it can be difficult not to think that you are the only person going through what you are trying to deal with at the time. Fortunately, there are ways to combat the feeling of not being supported. These four measures may help you to not only accomplish more and to feel better, but also to convey your objectives and aspirations more successfully.

Expand your support network

There is an old saying, “it’s not what you know, but who you know”, it may sound like an old cliché however, it couldn’t be any more relevant in the situation of needing support. Having the right people around you at a time of need is crucial, waiting until you need help to get the right people, however, is normally too late, and usually where the problems really begin.

Surely, it’s better to have a fire extinguisher, and to never have to use it than to have a fire break out, and to not know where the closest, most suitable extinguisher for the type of fire you need to extinguish is? Building your support network is something that every business owner should be doing subconsciously, much like IT support in Tampa, which is growing more and more, day by day.

Sharpen your own coping skills

Life is stressful enough as it is, without ‘problems’, who needs them anyway? If you learn how to deal with issues that stress you out, in a more healthy and productive way, then you will be more likely to be able to deal with whatever it is you need to deal with. Far too many people leave issues to bubble away in the background like a bit of broken software until, all of a sudden, they have one massive problem.

The fact is, that the ‘massive problem’ probably started a long time ago and is built up of lots of little ‘issues’ that weren’t addressed when they could have been. The trouble with that is, sod’s law usually dictates that they all come to a head at the same time, causing what may seem to be an unexplained catastrophe. Try to identify smaller issues and tackle them at the time rather than putting them in the ‘I’ll deal with that tomorrow box’, that tomorrow may never come.

Question why you don’t feel supported

It’s sad to say that many people will point the finger, or blame others if they end up feeling bad about something or find themselves in a bind. Take a few moments to question why you don’t feel supported, it might come back to the fact that you don’t have the right support network around you, or that you could have taken some action, when instead, the little issues ended up in the tomorrow box, and tomorrow never came!

Keeping it simple

Most importantly, it is easier to say, yet not so easy to do, keeping it simple. Life would be a breeze if one could take this simple idea and put it into practice with everything they do, wouldn’t it? Well, that’s where the real work begins, stay true to yourself, remain focused, and always ‘try’ to keep it simple.
